Leg 1 - Waipapa | Water
The race begins with a flat coastal trail with patches of sand, rocks and the odd sea lion as you head out towards Red Rocks. Then, runners complete a loop of the Waipapa track. Some serious vert!

A brand new relay-format trail race, in the windiest spot of the windy city.
Four unique courses; each between 8-12 km.
Organized by Wellington Scottish Athletics Club but open to everybody.

Relay teams, where their Leg 2 runner has not returned by 12:30 pm, will have their Leg 3 runner begin at this point. Where the Leg 3 runner has not returned by 2:15 pm, the Leg 4 runner will be set off at this point. This will help to ensure that the day runs smoothly with most people finishing the event, but being wrapped up by ~4 pm.
The south coast can be unpredictable on the best of days. Please bring the following gear (at a minimum) to keep yourself safe.

Course 1

Course 2
Wellington trail runners will be familiar with the famous Tip Track. This leg, you'll head up the Haape Track and then climb one of the numerous 4WD routes through the Red Rocks Reserve, before descending the Tip Track and flying back along the road.

Course 3
Tawatawa is the hidden gem of the south coast trail network - bushy trails, smooth or steep, depending on your choice. This has a bit of both. Head up Happy Valley road, take some hidden routes through town, before taking a tour of Tawatawa and then returning.
9 km | 350 m
Course 4
The final fun. This has some of the best bits of the other loops, with some further secrets. Head up the rope on the Haape Track, legs on fire. Then the ridgeline above the coast will open out as you start to descend the Red Rocks Track, and head back along the coast, to finish for your team.
